What design-build means for an electrical scope

In a design-build delivery the electrical design and the electrical installation are carried by the same contractor. You bring a program, a budget and a building, and the drawings come from the people who will install the work.

That is four things: design-build capabilities, Auto CAD design, professional project managers and electrical construction.

Code edition matters early, because it decides material. New Hampshire’s State Building Code currently includes the 2023 National Electrical Code with New Hampshire amendments, and towns can add local requirements. See the NH electrical code guide.

Design-build questions

What does design-build mean for the electrical scope?

It means the electrical design and the electrical installation are carried by the same contractor, so the drawings are produced by the people who will build them. You give us a program and a budget, and we develop the set. We do design-build projects, Auto CAD design, professional project management and electrical construction.

Do you produce AutoCAD drawings?

Yes. Auto CAD is the drawing tool we work in, and it sits next to design-build and electrical construction.

Do you assign a project manager?

Yes. We assign a professional project manager. For a general contractor or an owner's rep, that is the point of contact for submittals, RFIs, coordination and site sequencing. Call (603) 224-7474 to discuss a specific job.

Can you work from an RFP or RFQ?

Yes. Send us an RFP or RFQ. Email the documents to info@irishelectric.net or use the contact form and choose Commercial. Include the schedule and the point of contact for questions, and call (603) 224-7474 if it needs a conversation first.

Have you done design-build on a municipal building?

Yes. The Sixth Street fire station in Dover was a design build project with a complex lighting relay, emergency backup systems and extensive low voltage work.

Which code edition will the design be built to?

New Hampshire's State Building Code currently includes the 2023 National Electrical Code with New Hampshire amendments. Towns can be at different points of adoption and can add local requirements. Our NH electrical code guide sets this out.
